About

Hi, I’m Drew Jaynes, you may remember me from such webisodes as WordPress Ate My Website, A Hard Drive: Tales of Not Backing Up Your Photos and Oops! I Accidentally My Whole Newspaper*.

The thing is, I’ve kinda got a thing for WordPress. This spring (2013), I was named co-rep of the WordPress ‘Docs’ team, I’m a support forum mod & volunteer, Codex-junkie, backup lead on a WordPress 3.6 action item (menus UI refresh) and all around evangelist. Current focus is on documenting WordPress, trying to get new contributors in the door and old outdated information out of it. I also co-organize a WordPress meetup in Denver.

I have a degree in photojournalism & communication theory from Metropolitan State University of Denver and close ties to the development and journalism communities here. In terms of web design, I’ve been fiddling with various content management systems for more than 10 years. I’ve learned enough PHP to get along pretty well, in addition to mastering web staples like HTML & CSS.

I first stuck my toe into the WordPress ocean a couple of years ago and since then have made a distinct effort to expand my knowledge and skillset in the web dev community. My 2013 goal is to get a “WordPress” job. I’m already knee deep in it all the time, imagine how awesome would it be to get paid for it!
